On Thursday, the Montreal Canadiens were at home for their last game before a big road trip, and the Columbus Bluejackets were in town. The result was a 2-1 win.
Here are some quick notes from the game.
That goal was a long time coming for Bolduc.
Bolduc picked a fine time to start finding his groove. The points weren’t coming, but Bolduc’s play of late has been excellent. He’s playing with pace and physicality, and gives you the sense he will be a real pain in the ass in the playoffs. He was implicated in both goals against the BJs and that will be a confidence boost.

He had a tough time finding good chemistry all season, but he’s found some with Jake Evans. That duo has looked good with Dach, then Texier, and now Anderson. That kind of versatility this time of year is special.
Dobes just keeps making his statement.
Dobes wants to be the playoff starter, and if he keeps playing as he’s done in the last couple of games it will be hard to deny him.

Dobes is playing with confidence and battling every night, and he’s looked really good of late. Did you notice him giving guys a little shove when they were trying to screen him or getting too close? He’s feeling it.
The Habs can win close games and hold a late lead, as it turns out.
Did they just need a save? Was it as simple as finding decent goaltending and that issue of giving up leads late would disappear? Granted, the D has tightened up but a .962 save percentage helps.
The Habs start a five-game road trip on Saturday. I’m hoping for a Reinbacher call up. Struble has looked good – turns out playing with Hutson can do that for you – but they need to know what they’ve got in Reinbacher, and he needs a taste.
