On Sunday the Montreal Canadiens were in the second game of yet another back-to-back. This time they were in Carolina to face the Hurricanes in the second game of a five-game road trip. The result was a 3-1 win.
Here are some quick notes from the game.
That was another fine performance from Dobes.
He allowed just one goal in the first and then shut the door on a Canes team that would shoot from the far urinal in the dressing room toilets. The rookie is feeling it, especially against Carolina apparently.

Suzuki might hit 100.
What a game from Captain Nick Suzuki on Sunday! Two goals and an assist, while also playing the defensive game that might win him the Selke. Nick gets better as the games get more important.

We’ve been watching Caufield’s drive for 50, while at the same time seeing Suzuki’s play for 100. It’s too bad the Habs don’t have a first line centreman.
The Xhekaj experiment wasn’t exactly groundbreaking, but it might be worth repeating.
At the trade deadline, we wouldn’t have expected the Habs to find themselves so short on forwards that they’d play their scratched D-man on the fourth line in a game.

AX spent a lot of time on the bench, and looked lost a few times when he did see ice time. That’s to be expected. But he also laid out a couple of nice hits, and the Habs are missing what he brings to the lineup. I wouldn’t mind a few more looks at that.
The Habs have won five in a row and the next stop is Tampa Bay for an important four-point game.
