Playoff Andy was flying, but it wasn’t enough to steal Game 2

On Saturday night the Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes continued their Eastern Conference Final series at the Lenovo Center. After the Habs capitalized on their lack of rhythm in Game 1, we expected a much more organized team in Game 2. The result was a 3-2 overtime loss.

Here are some quick notes from the game.

Josh Anderson was ready for it.

In another display of how a player can elevate his game for playoffs, Andy had another big game. On the first goal he was driving the net so he could redirect a net front pass, and on the second goal he was net front to battle for a loose puck and fire it home.

Both of those goals tied the game for the Habs. Anderson’s line with Danault and Texier have been solid through 16 games of this post-season.

The Canes might have taken a note from the other series.

In addition to playing harder in their own style, Carolina worked hard to limit Lane Hutson. Perhaps they are noting how much the Avalanche struggle without Makar. Can Hutson fina a new level to work around their attention to him?

A line-up change should be expected for Game 3

Aside from that weak dump-in in overtime that allowed Carolina to break out quickly and score the winning goal, Oliver Kapanen has not been strong. I’d bring in Veleno for Game 3, and I suspect the coach will.

Go Habs Go!
